Website maintenance and hosting for businesses
Thirdlinks hosts and maintains websites, apps and systems for businesses in Norway. We keep them updated, secure and fast, take backups and check that everything works, so you do not have to think about it.
A website or app needs looking after once it is live. The software it runs on gets new versions and security updates. Browsers and phones change, and the content needs to stay current.
Without maintenance, a solution gradually becomes slower and more vulnerable. Often you only notice when something stops working, or when a form no longer sends enquiries.
With a hosting and maintenance agreement you have one contact who is responsible. We update, monitor and fix issues, and help with small changes when you need them.
When do you need a maintenance agreement?
- Nobody is responsible for keeping the website updated.
- You do not know whether there is a backup if something goes wrong.
- The website has become slow, or something has stopped working.
- You only find out about errors when a customer tells you.
- Whoever built your website or app is no longer available.
What does hosting and maintenance include?
Hosting and operations
We host your website or app on a secure, fast platform, with HTTPS and your domain set up correctly.
Security updates
We update frameworks, plugins and other dependencies when new versions come out, and test that everything still works.
Backups
We take regular backups of content and data, and can restore an earlier version if something goes wrong.
Uptime monitoring
We monitor that your solution is up and get an alert if it goes down, so we can fix the problem quickly.
Speed and bug fixes
We keep an eye on speed and fix issues that come up, including after changes in browsers and phones.
Small changes
We help with new text, images and minor adjustments. What is included is set out in the agreement.
How is hosting and maintenance priced?
Hosting and maintenance is an ongoing monthly agreement. The price depends on the solution, how often it needs updating and how much help you want with changes. You get the price in a written quote after a review. Thirdlinks is not VAT registered, so the quoted price is the total price.
Who is a maintenance agreement for?
- Businesses that got a website or app from us and want us to look after it
- Businesses with a website nobody is responsible for today
- Businesses with an app that needs updating for new versions of iOS and Android
- Businesses with integrations and systems that need to work every day
How do we get started?
Step 1: We review your solution
We start with how your website or app is built, where it is hosted and what needs updating.
Step 2: We agree the scope
Together we agree what is included, how often we update, how you report issues and how quickly we respond.
Step 3: We take over operations
We set up backups and monitoring, and move the solution to new hosting if needed.
Step 4: We follow up on an ongoing basis
We update, monitor and fix issues, and let you know if something should be improved.
Questions about hosting and maintenance
What is the difference between hosting and maintenance?
Hosting keeps your solution up and available: servers, domain, backups and monitoring. Maintenance keeps it up to date with security updates, new versions and bug fixes.
Why does a website need maintenance?
The software your website runs on gets new versions and security updates. Without updates, a site can become vulnerable to attacks, slow down or stop working after browser changes.
Can you take over a website someone else built?
Often, yes. We first review how it is built and where it is hosted. Then we can tell you whether we can take it over, or whether it pays to rebuild parts of it.
What happens if the website goes down?
Our monitoring alerts us, and we start troubleshooting. How quickly we respond is set out in the agreement. If needed, we restore an earlier version from backup.
Does the agreement cover apps too?
Yes. Apps need updating when Apple and Google release new versions of iOS and Android, and when App Store and Google Play requirements change. We can take care of that under the same agreement.
How much does hosting and maintenance cost?
It is an ongoing monthly agreement. The price depends on the solution and how much help you need, and is set out in a written quote after a review. We fix documented defects in what we delivered at no extra cost.
