Web design and UX design for businesses

Thirdlinks designs websites and apps for businesses in Oslo and across Norway. We start with what your customers need to find and do, then design something that makes it easy. You see and test the design before anything is built.

Good web design helps visitors find their way, understand what you offer and take the next step. Colours, type and images should suit your brand and make the content easy to read.

UX design is the design of the user experience: which pages you need, what goes at the top and how many steps it takes to book or send an enquiry. UI design is what you see on screen, such as buttons, forms, colours and typography.

We design in Figma, a tool for design and prototyping. You get a clickable prototype to try on your phone and desktop before we start building. Changing a sketch is quicker and cheaper than changing a finished website.

When do you need a new design?

  1. People visit your website, but few get in touch.
  2. Your website is hard to use on a phone.
  3. The design looks dated and no longer fits your brand.
  4. Customers call to ask about things that are already on your website.
  5. Your form or booking flow has too many steps.
  6. You are planning an app or a system and want to see how it works before it is built.

What do you get when we design for you?

  • Structure and user journeys

We find out what your customers are looking for, and plan a page structure and flow that takes them there.

  • Wireframes

Simple sketches show what goes where, before we spend time on colours and details.

  • Clickable prototype in Figma

Click through the design on your phone and desktop, and share it with others before anything is built.

  • Visual design

Colours, typography, buttons and images that suit your brand, for phones, tablets and desktops.

  • Design system

A set of shared components and rules, so new pages and features look consistent and are quicker to make.

  • Accessibility

We design with good contrast, readable text and forms that work with a keyboard and a screen reader.

Who do we design for?

  • Businesses getting a new website that want a design that fits their brand
  • Businesses whose website gets visitors but few enquiries
  • Businesses that want to refresh the design of their current website
  • Businesses planning an app or a customer portal that need screens and user flows
  • Founders who want to test an idea with users before building anything

How do we approach design?

  1. Step 1: We map your audience and goals

We start with who your customers are, what they need to do on your website or in your app, and what you want to achieve.

  2. Step 2: We plan structure and wireframes

You see the page structure and wireframes early, so we agree on content and flow before moving on to the details.

  3. Step 3: We design and prototype

We create the visual design and a clickable prototype in Figma. You test it and give feedback.

  4. Step 4: We refine and move on

We fix anything that was unclear in testing. Then we build the website or app, or hand over the design files if that is what we agreed.

Questions about web design and UX design

What is the difference between UX design and UI design?

UX design is about the user experience: structure, flow and how easy it is to get done what you came for. UI design is the visual interface, such as colours, typography, buttons and forms. Good web design needs both.

What is a prototype?

A prototype is a clickable version of the design, made before anything is built. You can move between pages and try buttons and forms. That way we find what is unclear while it is still easy to change.

Can you do the design only, without building the website?

Yes. We can deliver the design and prototype in Figma to you or your developers. If we also build the website or app, nothing gets lost between design and development.

Can you redesign the website we have?

Often, yes. We first look at how your website is built. Sometimes we can replace the design and keep the rest. Other times it is simpler to rebuild the site. You will know before you get the quote.

Do you design for accessibility?

Yes. We design with good contrast, readable text, clear links and forms that work with a keyboard and a screen reader. In Norway, website accessibility is also a legal requirement for many businesses.

How much does web design cost?

If we build your website, the design is included in the price. A standalone design project is priced by how many pages or screens need designing, and whether you need a prototype and a design system. You get a written quote after we map your needs.

Want to see your website or app before it is built?

Tell us what you are making and who it is for, and we will suggest how to design it.
